The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering transforms individuals who will shape the future of human-computer interaction/design. Our unique program blends academic research with industry-oriented design skills and is tailored to impart critical thinking by building core academic foundations. Luddy’s HCI/d program was the first in the U.S. to emphasize design as an equal partner to HCI, and our vision anticipated current trends in technology, business, and innovation while laying the groundwork for students to grow rapidly into sought-after design leaders.

Cohort Culture

HCI/d students come from a wide variety of countries, backgrounds, and cultures to form a multidisciplinary cohort which becomes a tightly knit community of designers. Our students don’t compete with one another. They collaborate to make everyone stronger. The result is a cohort that graduates with a well-rounded design education that features a bedrock of HCI theory and technical skills.
Student Work
Our students are recognized at major international conferences, including CHI, and our students regularly compete in—and win or place in—international design competitions.
